Prof. Paolo Veronesi, the director of IEO Breast Program
Prof. Paolo Veronesi is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Milan and is the author of 231 scientific publications.
His personal clinical cases are among the widest in Europe, with more than 7,000 patients operated over the past 15 years. His contribution to clinical and research activities has been critical to the innovations developed at IEO in the care of breast cancer, representing the most important advances in breast oncology on an international level.
He has worked for the improvement of conservative surgery techniques for breast cancer and the development of the sentinel lymph node technique and intraoperative radiotherapy as a complement to conservative surgery.
Other major research fields, in collaboration with the Department of Oncology of Medical Senology, concern the experimentation of preoperative drug therapies, with the aim of further increasing the proportion of patients who are candidates for conservative surgery. For patients requiring mastectomy, the close collaboration with the Plastic Surgery Division has enabled the development of "conservative" mastectomy, which preserves the aesthetic appearance of the breast while providing complete removal of the glandular tissue.

Professor L. Spaggiari, Director of IEO Lung Program
While working at IEO, Lorenzo Spaggiari is also a Vice Director of Thoracic Oncology Working Group at European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery.
Since 1997 he is a fellow of the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and a member of a number of medical societies: Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, French Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, that is confirming his significant medical experience.
Since 2006, prof. Spaggiari is Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Milan. By actively involving in a number of researches, he is an author of a numerous scientific publications.

Professor N. Colombo, Director of IEO Gynecologic Program
Dr. Nicoletta Colombo carried out her first clinical research at the Gynecologic Oncology Service of Mangiagalli Clinic and later at the San Gerardo di Monza Hospital, combining an intense collaboration with the laboratory of Immunology and Cancer Pharmacology at the Mario Negri in studies of immunology and pharmacokinetics of the drugs used in the treatment.
After a stage of training and clinical research in the Medical Oncology Unit at Charing Cross Hospital and Royal Marsed Hospital London, as well as in the Department of Immunology at Dana-Farber Institute in Boston in 1985 she became Associate Clinical Researcher in the Division of Medical Oncology at the New York University for a period of two years.
In 1994 she started to work at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan. She holds the position of Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Milan-Bicocca. Also, she is author of numerous scientific publications, confirming her great experience and expertise in the field she continues her research activity.

Professor M. Ansarin, Director of IEO Head and Neck Program
Professor Ansarin deals with the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancers (nasopharyngeal, oral cavity, pharynx, salivary glands, thyroid gland) and in particular is interested in the diagnosis and therapy of of the larynx and hypopharynx cancer with particular reference to minimally invasive laser or robot-assisted surgical techniques, research on predictors of response to treatment and of those predictions.
Prof. Ansarin acted as principal and co-investigator in different randomized multicenter studies supported and funded by Italian government. He is founding member of the SRS (Society of Robotic Surgery) and AIOCC (Italian Head and Neck Oncology Society), ordinary member of the High Italian Group of Otolaryngology, the Italian Society of Cranial Base, the Italian Society of Surgical Oncology (SICO) and SIO. He is an editorial board member of World Journal of Radiology (WJR).

Professor O. De Cobelli, Director of IEO Urology and Minimally Invasive Prostate Treatment Program
Professor De Cobelli performs surgical and clinical activity at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, mainly dealing with the urological cancer treatment: prostate, bladder, kidney, testicle and penis. He has performed more than 3,000 surgeries as a leading operator since 1998.
In the last five years he has devoted to the development of Robot Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery in Urology, with particular interest in the neoplastic prostate, performing as leading operator more than 850 interventions of radical prostatectomy. Since January 1998 he is Director of the Urology Division at the IEO. Prof. De Cobelli also organizes courses accredited by ECM and manages multidisciplinary meetings between different divisions.
He has carried out an activity of “perceptoring and proctoring” in robotic surgery in many Italian cities and foreign countries. The results of the teaching processes were presented on international levels. Currently, Ottavio De Cobelli is a member of large number of urological societies, including Italian Society of Urology, Italian Society of Urological Oncology and European Association of Urology. De Cobelli is Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Milan.

Dr. Orsi Franco, The Director of Interventional Radiology Division
Dr. Orsi Franco is Director of the Interventional Radiology Division at the European Institute of Oncology, Milan, Italy. Fellow of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), contract Professor at the Residency School of Radiology of the University of Milan, he is the President and one of the Founders of the Italian European Society of Interventional Radiology (IESIR). Dr. Orsi is recognized worldwide as one of the top specialists in the HIFU and Interventional Radiology fields.
Winner of the “Bracco International Award” in 1995 he then attended as visiting fellow the “Visiting Fellowship Program" in Magnetic Resonance Imaging offered by the Massachussets General Hospital (Boston, USA). He is member of The Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) from 1994 and a fellow from 1998.
From 1994 to 1999 he worked as tutor for the Specialization School of Radiology of the Università Statale of Milan and still now organizes lessons of Interventional Radiology there.
In 2000 he has been nominated Professor at the School of Radiology at the Università Statale of Milan.
